Outlet Description:
This small corner outfit sitting among Bukit Merah Lane 1’s furniture and songbird shops has been around for about 30 years. They sell a variety of freshly made steamed cakes such as ang ku kueh (the yam version is highly recommended) and rainbow kueh lapis, plus golden kueh ambon, kueh dadar and their best-seller, Indonesian-style kueh lapis spekkoek. The small-scale production means that items run out quite fast. Closed and opened-face pineapple tarts are offered a few weeks before Chinese New Year and sell out very quickly. If you have the chance, take a peek into the small kitchen and watch the aunties preparing these sweet treats by hand.
